Thresher Industries have developed a eco-friendly casting process used to “generate internal shapes, passages, runner shapes in virtually any cast metal process.” Called Nautilus Core, this technology helps reduce material costs while saving the environment.
Moore’s Law may not be dead afterall. It’s just going to get by-passed by new types of technology, such as attaching molecules to the surface of silicon to affect threshold voltage in a form of doping on the nanometer scale. Say what, again?
Epoch-Fail
This one is obvious: Toyota has issued its largest recall ever because they have finally acknowledged an issue with runaway vehicles (several years too late for many of their customers). Toyota has identified the issue as being caused by gas pedals being jammed under floormats. Some take issue with this explanation. Applied brakes should overcome an engine, no matter how much gas it is given. It is my understanding that some customers have reported that the brakes are hard to press down (i.e., unpowered) when pressed during runaway events and others report brakes catching on fire (possibly meaning that brakes were applied and likely struggling against the engine). Beyond all that, U.S. Government stated that Toyota has released “misleading information about an investigation into problems with stuck gas pedals”. This is such a mess, I’m giving Toyota the first ever Double Epoch-Fail award.
