{"id":152,"date":"2009-02-08T09:16:36","date_gmt":"2009-02-08T17:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=152"},"modified":"2025-06-09T16:36:52","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T20:36:52","slug":"solidworks-world-2009-pre-day-and-the-pre-preday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=152","title":{"rendered":"SolidWorks World 2009, Pre-day and the pre-preday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are officially four days for SolidWorks World 2009, Sunday through Monday; though, sometimes Sunday is sort of considered a pre-day even though its called &#8220;<a title=\"Sunday Day 1\" href=\"https:\/\/1bosweb3.experient-inc.com\/Events\/Solidworks\/World2009\/Agenda\/agenda_by_day.cfm?#Sunday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 \u00a0However, activity begins even before Sunday.\u00a0 \u00a0I guess Saturday can be called the pre-preday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday fun<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My Saturday was mostly spent flying from San Jose, CA to Orlando, FL, with a layover.\u00a0 I met up with Alex the <a title=\"The SolidWorks Geek\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theswgeek.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SolidWorks Geek<\/a> in our Houston stop.\u00a0 \u00a0This is his first, and my second SolidWorks World.\u00a0 \u00a0We made it to the Swan &amp; Dolphin resort in Orlando just in time to catch the tail-end of a <a title=\"Saturday the tweetup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rickyjordan.com\/2009\/02\/solidworks-world-2009-saturday-the-tweetup.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secret meeting<\/a>.\u00a0 After that, many of us <a title=\"Beware of addiction to this service\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitters <\/a>converged at the lobby bar for some drinks for a <a title=\"Tweet or Twit?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=tweetup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweetup<\/a>.\u00a0 \u00a0It was great meeting up with a lot of the bloggers and consummate SolidWorks users from around the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday so far<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, Saturday was indeed a very long day.\u00a0 \u00a0Though I prolly should have a hang-over right now, I don&#8217;t (never really get those).\u00a0 \u00a0My Sunday started bright and early with attendance to some focus groups for SolidWorks sheet metal functionality at 8:30AM and drawings at 10:00AM.\u00a0 These are sessions where SolidWorks users from various industries meet up with SolidWorks employees in face to face open discussions.\u00a0 \u00a0The fact that these sessions happen is a sure sign that (despite the appearance otherwise sometimes) SolidWorks does put forth significant effort to improve their software based on customer input.\u00a0 \u00a0These focus groups are good because users give first hand accounts about how they are using the software, including their likes, like-to-haves, frustrations and such.\u00a0 \u00a0I may go into specific details about these focus groups later.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s lunch time now.\u00a0 I hunger.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are officially four days for SolidWorks World 2009, Sunday through Monday; though, sometimes Sunday is sort of considered a pre-day even though its called &#8220;Day 1&#8220;.\u00a0 \u00a0However, activity begins even before Sunday.\u00a0 \u00a0I guess Saturday can be called the pre-preday.
