\"\"<\/a>It took a little longer than originally planned, but DraftSight for Linux <\/em>is now in beta release for the general public!\u00a0 Of course, DraftSight is a no-cost 2D CAD product by Dassault Systemes for CAD professionals, students and educators (download at DraftSight.com<\/span><\/a>)\u00a0that allows them to create, edit and view DWG files.<\/p>\n

The Linux version of DraftSight was openly talked about by Dassault Systemes as early as August 2010.\u00a0 The original statements at that time suggested that a beta release would be happening in the Fall of that year.\u00a0 That didn’t happen, but the Linux version is\u00a0finally\u00a0available.\u00a0 This is a major move that allows Dassault Systemes to\u00a0position itself very well in the 2D CAD industry with its beta release of a MAC version, and its recent general release of the Windows version. \u00a0For additional information about DraftSight, please see my previous article<\/a>.\u00a0 There’s also more Linux specific\u00a0information now available in this newer article<\/a>.<\/p>\n
