{"id":2832,"date":"2011-06-23T05:12:02","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T13:12:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=2832"},"modified":"2014-10-25T11:42:40","modified_gmt":"2014-10-25T15:42:40","slug":"controlling-how-flag-notes-are-attached-to-leaders-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=2832","title":{"rendered":"Controlling how flag notes are attached to leaders (part 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?series=controlling-how-flag-notes-are-attached-to-leaders\" class=\"series-1524\" title=\"Controlling how flag notes are attached to leaders\">Controlling how flag notes are attached to leaders<\/a><\/div><p>SolidWorks provides the ability to support many different shapes for flag notes.\u00a0 In addition to shapes, there are several methods in SolidWorks to create flag notes on a drawing.\u00a0 Each method gives a slightly different result in how the flag note symbol looks and how it is attached to the leader line.\u00a0 Part 1 of this article will cover shapes and the flag note symbols.<\/p>\n<h4>Flag note symbol shapes<\/h4>\n<p>There are two general methods to add flag note symbols to an Annotation Note.<\/p>\n<p>The first (and older) method is to use the symbol library.\u00a0 There are literally hundreds of symbols included within the library.\u00a0 The library supports triangle, square and circle symbols for numbers and letters, with or without the period.\u00a0 This method inserts a tag into the Annotation Note, which then generates the flag note symbol, based on existing data in the gtol.sym file.<\/p>\n<h4>Using the Flag note symbols from the symbol library<\/h4>\n<p>To use this method, create the Annotation Note with a leader.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note20.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2833\" title=\"note20\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note20.png?resize=190%2C150\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While in the edit mode, click on the Add Symbol button in the PropertyManager.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note22.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2834\" title=\"note22\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note22.jpg?resize=189%2C187\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This opens up the Symbol Library.\u00a0 Pick the appropriate flag note symbol and OK.This opens up the Symbol Library. Pick the appropriate flag note symbol and OK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note23.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2836\" title=\"note23\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note23.jpg?resize=312%2C256\" alt=\"\" width=\"312\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note23.jpg?w=312 312w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note23.jpg?resize=300%2C246 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 312px) 85vw, 312px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will insert the symbol into the Annotation Note.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note21.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2837\" title=\"note21\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/note21.jpg?resize=204%2C190\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If the triangle is chosen, the resultant symbol is not an\u00a0equilateral triangle.
