If one of these views was deleted, for whatever reason, it&#8217;s letter would no longer appear on the drawing when new views were created. The only automatic method\u00a0to get the letters to be reused would be to reset the starting letter for the whole drawing. What many users ended up doing was just manually entering letters for new drawing views after one was deleted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3367\" title=\"Letter for View Labels\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/letterlabel.jpg?resize=405%2C387\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/letterlabel.jpg?w=506 506w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/letterlabel.jpg?resize=300%2C286 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 405px) 85vw, 405px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In SolidWorks 2012, a new setting was added that allows you to automatically reuse letters from views that have been deleted.\u00a0 This setting is in <strong>Tools<\/strong> pulldown &gt; <strong>Options&#8230;<\/strong> &gt; <strong>System Options<\/strong> tab &gt; <strong>Drawings<\/strong> heading.\u00a0 Near the bottom, find <strong>Reuse view letter from deleted auxiliary, detail, and section views<\/strong>.\u00a0 Add a <strong>check<\/strong> to its box and <strong>OK<\/strong>.\u00a0 The setting&#8217;s name is a bit long, but\u00a0clearly stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3368\" title=\"Reuse letters\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/reuselabels.jpg?resize=470%2C45\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"45\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/reuselabels.jpg?w=470 470w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/reuselabels.jpg?resize=300%2C28 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 470px) 85vw, 470px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So, now when a view is deleted, it&#8217;s letter will automatically appear\u00a0for the next Section View, Detail View or Auxiliary View.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the past, SolidWorks would track the letters used in Section Views, Detail Views and Auxiliary Views on drawings.
