\nI’ve been wanting to write an article about the book\u00a0Photorealistic Rendering Using SolidWorks and Photoview 360<\/strong><\/em> for almost a year now.\u00a0 Between that time and now, I’ve become employed by SolidWorks, which makes writing reviews about SolidWorks related products somewhat\u00a0self-serving.\u00a0\u00a0As such, I’m not going to do a full length detailed review.\u00a0 That being said, it is a great\u00a0guide to learn\u00a0the ins-and-outs of making photorealistic images\u00a0from SolidWorks.\u00a0 One of the main consultants for this book is Rob Rodriguez<\/a>, infamous for his\u00a0photorendering skills.<\/p>\n

The book’s approach to the subject is\u00a0refreshing, in that it is written from the perspective of a photographer.\u00a0 Topics include basic elements, such a lighting, to more complex visualization settings for\u00a0illumination.\u00a0 Also discussed are OpenGL, RealView, Surface Finishes, hardware, performance, scenes, decals, user interface, display states, configurations, mapping, output options, etc, etc.\u00a0 It does include a DVD-ROM!<\/p>\n

It’s a great guide with a lot of detailed images as it takes you step-by-step through the process of creating photorealistic images with SolidWorks and Photoview 360.<\/p>\n
