To continue with Part 1<\/a> of this article, here are more SolidWorks related forums.<\/p>\n

Solidmentor Solid Forum<\/strong><\/a>– This site is well organized and contains many resources, including forums dedicated to SolidWorks discussions.\u00c2\u00a0 It lists posts by topic in the Solid Forum area.\u00c2\u00a0 Membership (free) is required to participate.\u00c2\u00a0 Activity is low, with new posts appearing on a weekly to monthly basis; though when new messages appear, replies appear in rapid spurts thereafter.\u00c2\u00a0 The forums on Solidmentor have an unfinished feel to them.\u00c2\u00a0 I think this is why activity is still very low despite the popularity of the general website.\u00c2\u00a0 At this time, I do not recommend the Solid Forum, though I do recommend the overall Solidmentor website.<\/p>\n

SolidWorks Forums<\/strong><\/a>– This\u00c2\u00a0is the home site for the forums managed by SolidWorks Corp.\u00c2\u00a0 Forums exist for practically every nuance one could imagine within a SolidWorks discussion, such as Assemblies, BOM, Design Tables, Surfacing, Routing, Toolbox, COSMOSWorks, and User Groups (just to name some).\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Within each forum, messages are ordered by most recent activity.\u00c2\u00a0 Personally, I’m not fond of the fact that so many categories for forums exist on the site.\u00c2\u00a0 Membership is required to view <\/strong>and participate in discussions.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Membership is technically free.\u00c2\u00a0 SolidWorks Corp frequently watches the forums for their own purposes.\u00c2\u00a0 Some people don’t seem to like this fact.\u00c2\u00a0 There are a lot of knowledgeable participants, several of which are SolidWorks Corp employees.\u00c2\u00a0 This means that most inquiries are addressed quickly.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 This is by far the largest SolidWorks forum site, with tens of thousands of members.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Participation is heavy.\u00c2\u00a0 However, participation does not seem to include most members.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 One point of caution, be sure to use the non-Java interface.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The site\u00c2\u00a0is well moderated.\u00c2\u00a0 I recommend this site, in part because of the activity level, and in part simply because it is the main site for SolidWorks discussions, and it is run by SolidWorks Corp itself.<\/p>\n

SolidWorks Yahoo! Group<\/strong><\/a>– This is main SolidWorks based forum on Yahoo! Groups.\u00c2\u00a0 It is dedicated to SolidWorks.\u00c2\u00a0 Topics can be listed either in order of recent activity, or by topic.\u00c2\u00a0 Membership (free) is required to participate in the forum.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0This group provides a significant number of other resources, such as download, weblinks, and polls.\u00c2\u00a0 Activity occurs on an hourly to daily basis.\u00c2\u00a0 I personally co-moderate this group.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I recommend this group for the activity level and additional resources; oh and yes, also because I help run it.\u00c2\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

SolidWorks-APl Google Group<\/strong><\/a>– This is a Google group that is specifically for discussions regarding SolidWorks API.\u00c2\u00a0 It lists posts by most recent topic.\u00c2\u00a0 Membership (free) is required to participate in discussions.\u00c2\u00a0 This group is a good place to ask API related questions.\u00c2\u00a0 It is for more advanced users.\u00c2\u00a0 The group has seen more activity in the past than it does now. \u00c2\u00a0 However, if someone does post a question, it is often answered by others fairly quickly.\u00c2\u00a0 It appears to be loosely moderated.\u00c2\u00a0 Activity is weekly to monthly.\u00c2\u00a0 I do not recommend this group because of its low activity.<\/p>\n

SWcad<\/a><\/strong>– This is another Google group.\u00c2\u00a0 It is dedicated to SolidWorks related discussions.\u00c2\u00a0 It lists posts by most recent topic.\u00c2\u00a0 Membership (free) is required to view<\/strong> and participate in discussions.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Activity is on a daily to weekly basis.\u00c2\u00a0 It is tightly moderated.\u00c2\u00a0 New users are placed on probation.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00c2\u00a0do not recommend this group due to low activity levels.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Please comment if you know of any other groups.\u00c2\u00a0 Feel free to check out all the groups I listed, even if I do not recommend them.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Some that do not suit me may work well for others.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0However, I personally visit and participate on all of these sites.\u00c2\u00a0 Also, feel free to comment on my opinions here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
