Product Definition team at DS SolidWorks Corp give two presentations at each SOLIDWORKS World. \u00a0Presentations can be either Hands-on or Breakout. \u00a0Hands-on sessions involve attendee participation at desktop computers provided for the conference. \u00a0Attendees typically follow and repeat steps shown by the presenter. \u00a0Breakout sessions are essentially talks with demonstrations of functionality in SOLIDWORKS products.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes our team gives extra presentations. \u00a0There are cases where our hands-on sessions are very popular, so we add an extra hands-on session of the same material for the overflow. \u00a0Other times, we give the multiple breakout sessions on various topics.<\/p>\n<h5>My Presentations<\/h5>\n<p>At SOLIDWORKS World 2017, I gave three presentations and a panel discussion. \u00a0It almost never fails that I give a presentation right after the General Session on <strong>Monday<\/strong> of the conference. \u00a0This year, my Monday presentation was a hands-on session about new functionality that&#8217;s been added to SOLIDWORKS over the past 5 years. \u00a0The session was <em>Streamline Drawing Creation with Newer SOLIDWORKS Drawing Tools.<\/em>\u00a0 In this session, attendees got to try out newer drawing tools that they may have missed before, such as<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>User Interface improvements<\/li>\n<li>Drawing Zones, Location Label and Automatic Border tool<\/li>\n<li>All uppercase setting for notes<\/li>\n<li>Angle Dimension enhancements<\/li>\n<li>Model Break <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>, I gave two breakout sessions. \u00a0The first one was planned and well-prepared about MBD called\u00a0<em>Model-Based Definition using SOLIDWORKS MBD<\/em>. \u00a0This session covered very general overview of \u00a0MBD, ways to implement settings in SOLIDWORKS for the best MBD experience, SOLIDWORKS MBD tools (3D Views, 3D PDF Publisher, etc), and DimXpert. \u00a0A lot of people attended this session. \u00a0Though, I didn&#8217;t pack the house to the wall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20170207_101705.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter second <strong>Tuesday<\/strong> breakout session, \u00a0I presented on BOM&#8217;s, called <em>Building SOLIDWORKS BOMs<\/em>. \u00a0Due to a cancellation by the original speaker, I had to step to not only cover the empty slot in the schedule, but also talk about BOMs without a prepared Powerpoint slide deck or file set. \u00a0Since there were no materials for me to work from, I had to skip the Tuesday General Session to give myself time to pull together a session plan and file set. \u00a0Given the circumstances, I believe I did well. \u00a0I was able to cover many basics about BOMs, and also more advanced capabilities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BOM table display options<\/li>\n<li>BOM Type (Top Level, Parts Only and Indented)<\/li>\n<li>Options for displaying configurations of the same part<\/li>\n<li>Keep Missing Item settings<\/li>\n<li>BOM Anchor<\/li>\n<li>BOM Template<\/li>\n<li>Virtual Parts<\/li>\n<li>Document Properties<\/li>\n<li>Sorting<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately,\u00a0because the session was off-the-cuff, there is no Powerpoint outline to provide. \u00a0The session was recorded, so it should be available as a video while the SOLIDWORKS Proceedings are available (soon).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On <strong>Wednesday<\/strong>, I was part of the panel discussion about MBD. \u00a0Five speakers participated in an engagement with attendees who are interested in MBD. \u00a0This session was called <em>SOLIDWORKS World 2017 MBD Learning Path Panel Discussion.<\/em>\u00a0 Attendees asked about many MBD related topics, including STEP, real world implications, specific use cases, vendor adoption, etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Normally, members
