{"id":7,"date":"2007-12-03T07:24:41","date_gmt":"2007-12-03T14:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=7"},"modified":"2013-12-17T22:03:57","modified_gmt":"2013-12-18T02:03:57","slug":"create-a-solidworks-drawing-watermark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=7","title":{"rendered":"Create a SolidWorks Drawing Watermark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">For whatever reason, watermarks are sometimes necessary, even on drawings.<del> Since SolidWorks has no watermark feature, and does not allow the user to change the order of drawing entities, a workaround is necessary.<\/del> Here&#8217;s a method I recently discovered.(I am currently using SolidWorks 2007 SP3.1.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-top: 0in;\" type=\"1\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Open the drawing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Edit Sheet Format<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Use Annotation Note to create and place the text that will become the watermark. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Edit the properties of the Note to adjust its font, angle, size, etc as desired.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Highlight the Note and change its color using the Line Color function.For best results, assign a very light color to the Note.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Right Mouse Button click on the Note and select Make Block and accept.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Edit Sheet.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">The Note will now appear underneath all other objects on the Drawing Sheet.<span>\u00a0<\/span>This tip is based on the SolidWorks Forum discussion which can be found here:<a href=\"http:\/\/forum.solidworks.com\/forum\/messageview.cfm?catid=6&amp;threadid=1989&amp;enterthread=y\">http:\/\/forum.solidworks.com\/forum\/messageview.cfm?catid=6&amp;threadid=1989&amp;enterthread=y<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; color: #ff6600;\">*UPDATE*<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">I have written an article detailing a more advanced method that will link the text of the watermark directly to a custom property here: <\/span><a title=\"Create watermark with linked value\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=24\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Create a SolidWorks Drawing Watermark (with linked value)<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>UPDATE for SolidWorks 2013<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>\n<strong style=\"color: #008080;\">SolidWorks 2013 now has the ability to set any annotation note on the sheet format to appear underneath all drawing elements to act as a watermark. \u00a0The method mentioned above is no longer necessary to achieve the desired results.
