{"id":759,"date":"2010-02-03T14:30:20","date_gmt":"2010-02-03T22:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=759"},"modified":"2010-02-03T14:36:10","modified_gmt":"2010-02-03T22:36:10","slug":"james-cameron-press-conference-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=759","title":{"rendered":"Enhancements planned for SolidWorks 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There were a lot of new SolidWorks 2011 functionalities that were demonstrated in today\u2019s general session.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a long list of improvements.\u00a0 SolidWorks presented most of these improvements as part of an on-stage skit, so it was difficult to keep track of all the discussed changes.\u00a0 However, this is my best attempt to give a nearly complete list:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Revolve will be extrudable &#8220;up to surface&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Defeature feature allows for the removal of internal features of a part to protect IP.<\/li>\n<li>Real View is &#8220;fully customizable&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Display Manage that controls settings such as color, transparency, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Photoview 360 now has a preview menu within SolidWorks Works<\/li>\n<li>Animation can be pre-rendered<\/li>\n<li>Further improvements have been made to memory usage and optimization<\/li>\n<li>Within Non-linear simulation, planar simulation allows the user to run simulation on a 2D slice of a part to save time; also, that\u00a02D slice\u00a0can be projected back to the 3D part.<\/li>\n<li>Feature lock!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Drawings<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dimensions spaced evenly and in the right view (on new views, or to correct existing views)<\/li>\n<li>Thumb wheel to change spacing of dimensions<\/li>\n<li>Dual dimensions allowed in hole table<\/li>\n<li>Weld tables now available in drawings<\/li>\n<li>Weld callouts can be automatically added to a drawing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Assemblies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chamfers and fillets can be used for weld prep<\/li>\n<li>Cut sweep allowed<\/li>\n<li>Weld gaps with actual geometry<\/li>\n<li>Walk thru function, just like video games<\/li>\n<li>Multiple piping enhancements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There were a lot of new SolidWorks 2011 functionalities that were demonstrated in today\u2019s general session.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a long list of improvements.\u00a0 SolidWorks presented most of these improvements as part of an on-stage skit, so it was difficult to keep track of all the discussed changes.\u00a0 However, this is my best attempt to give a &hellip;
