SWUGN Summit San Jose came to a\u00a0close\u00a0with many satisfied attendees.\u00a0 In the past, San Jose area attendance to SWUGN Summits has been a bit up and down.\u00a0 For whatever reason, attendance picked back up this year.\u00a0 I haven’t checked to see the actual numbers yet, but I believe it is one of the best so far for this area.\u00a0 Another bonus, I’m happy to report that both major VARs from\u00a0this area contributed by giving some of the presentations!<\/p>\n

Our star presenter was Gabi Jack<\/a>. \u00a0Over the past week, she was stating much consternation over\u00a0twitter about her impending\u00a0presentation.\u00a0 It turns out, she did a great job with her Surfacing presentation.\u00a0 It was not obvious that this was her first live and public presentation ever<\/span> since finishing college.\u00a0 She’s a natural pro!<\/p>\n

Another seasoned pro\u00a0is Phil Sluder<\/a>.\u00a0 His SolidWorks tips and tricks session is always a crowd pleaser.\u00a0 In fact, the session description simply said, “Phil’s tips and tricks…enough said.”\u00a0 His presentation is good for all comers, from beginners and experienced users alike.<\/p>\n

Elisa Moss <\/a>had\u00a0a heavily attended session that covered how to use derived configurations and display states for drawings.\u00a0 She was also a very supportive attendee during other sessions.<\/p>\n

Another star presenter was Alex R. Ruiz, who just recently released his new book, SolidWorks 2010: No Experience Required<\/a>.\u00a0 His session was partially based on the new book, which earned some well deserved attention.\u00a0 I’ll be reviewing the book on SolidWorks Legion soon.<\/p>\n

My own presentation was about advanced SolidWorks customization techniques.\u00a0 Although labelled “advanced”, I did cover some easy topics as well to give something for all levels of experience.\u00a0 My presentation went pretty well, except for a couple of times where SolidWorks did not momentarily cooperate.\u00a0 Part of the challenge of presenting is working through the surprizes when they come up.\u00a0 I was glad that the audience participated frequently and showed a lot of interest in the topics that were covered.<\/p>\n

As usual, I’m going to have to thank Richard Doyle <\/a>for putting on yet another great summit<\/a>!<\/p>\n

In other related news, Arthur Kwun of KLA Tencor <\/a>earned his free CSWP test by uttering the words “SolidWorks Legion is awesome, dude!”\u00a0\u00a0He did this during the lunch hour, so I wasn’t quite expecting it.\u00a0 It took me a minute to realize he said the winning phrase.\u00a0 Anyway, congrats!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
