{"id":2322,"date":"2011-02-08T05:11:50","date_gmt":"2011-02-08T13:11:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=2322"},"modified":"2011-02-06T18:24:39","modified_gmt":"2011-02-07T02:24:39","slug":"whats-new-for-solidworks-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=2322","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s New? for SolidWorks 2012 (a most tasty &#038; complete list from SWW11 )"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2335\" title=\"2012\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/2012.png?resize=211%2C126\" alt=\"2012\" width=\"211\" height=\"126\" \/>Some say the world will end in 2012.\u00a0 There are a lot of books being rushed to market right now that make some amazing claims about what&#8217;s going to happen just 22 months from now (Dec 21, 2012).\u00a0 SolidWorks Corp seems gleefully oblivious to all of this hoopla, as they have put a lot of effort to bring new capabilities to SolidWorks 2012.\u00a0 Here\u00a0 are some highlights.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a few\u00a0generic user interface capabilities to be added:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A pushpin function will be added to allow users to put choice drawings, models or assemblies in a quick access flyout menu.<\/li>\n<li>Users can now switch between units of measure via a selection tool added to the status bar.<\/li>\n<li>A new command filter search will be added to allow users to search for SolidWorks commands on-the-fly (has opposed to stumbling around the Help file).<\/li>\n<li>Selecting an item in the graphics view will highlight it and zoom to it within the feature tree (finally!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sheet metal will see several improvements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Users will be able to\u00a0choose faces to ignore in flat patterns.<\/li>\n<li>Swept flange feature will be available.\u00a0 They will be flattenable.<\/li>\n<li>Tangent Flange position function.<\/li>\n<li>Users will be able to set flanges parallel to a sketch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_0647.JPG\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2323\" title=\"Improved equations dialog box\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_0647-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150\" alt=\"Improved equations dialog box\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_0647.JPG?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_0647.JPG?zoom=2&amp;resize=150%2C150 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_0647.JPG?zoom=3&amp;resize=150%2C150 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 85vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Big news about equations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improved equation editor, with solve order and sort.<\/li>\n<li>Global variables are now editable via the equation editor window.<\/li>\n<li>Auto-rebuild for immediate implementation of changes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On drawings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BOMs will be insertable without having a pre-selected view.<\/li>\n<li>Exploded views will be an option in the View Pallet.<\/li>\n<li>Balloon order sequencing will be available, with the ability to number around a view from any start location.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Push for Magnet Lines started last year.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=1690\" target=\"_self\">Magnet Lines<\/a>!!!
