{"id":3047,"date":"2011-11-14T08:33:05","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T12:33:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=3047"},"modified":"2011-11-12T21:14:58","modified_gmt":"2011-11-13T01:14:58","slug":"auxiliary-views-for-those-strange-angles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=3047","title":{"rendered":"Auxiliary views for those strange angles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I rarely used auxiliary views.\u00a0 Every once in awhile,\u00a0parts defy orthogonal projection.\u00a0\u00a0These are\u00a0when auxiliary views are useful.\u00a0\u00a0In those cases,\u00a0auxiliary views are generally projected from some perpendicular surface.\u00a0 But once in awhile, there&#8217;s a part that defies even this, having no flat surfaces from which\u00a0to project.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the example below, there is a feature that cuts through a part at an odd angle.\u00a0 There is no flat surface into which it cuts.\u00a0 Normally, in SolidWorks, the direct view of this cut could be shown by using the Auxiliary View tool and selecting a perpendicular surface from which a view may be projected.\u00a0 Here, there is no such flat surface.\u00a0 SolidWorks does support these kind of oddball scenarios.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/simpleart.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3048\" title=\"Simple art\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/simpleart.jpg?resize=455%2C463\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"463\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/simpleart.jpg?w=455&amp;ssl=1 455w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/simpleart.jpg?resize=294%2C300&amp;ssl=1 294w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 85vw, 455px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this example, we are still going to make use of the Auxiliary View tool.<\/p>\n<p>1. Add a side view of the part.<\/p>\n<p>2. Pre-select the line and then\u00a0chose the Auxiliary View tool from the Drawing\u00a0toolbar or at Insert pulldown menu&gt;Drawing View&gt;Auxiliary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>5.
