{"id":4752,"date":"2013-11-22T08:13:55","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T12:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=4752"},"modified":"2014-10-25T11:07:32","modified_gmt":"2014-10-25T15:07:32","slug":"new-in-solidworks-2014-not-mentioned-in-the-whats-new-view-rotation-angles-everywhere-part-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?p=4752","title":{"rendered":"New in SolidWorks 2014 (not mentioned in the What&#8217;s New): View rotation angles everywhere (Part 3)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 13 of 13 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/?series=new-in-solidworks-2014\" class=\"series-1522\" title=\"New in SOLIDWORKS 2014\">New in SOLIDWORKS 2014<\/a><\/div><p>With all the new functionality with view labels in SolidWorks 2014, some ancillary enhancements have also come about as a result from customer feedback during Beta Testing.\u00a0 One of these enhancements has been the new capability to display any view&#8217;s angle within an annotation note.\u00a0 Why would anyone need something like this?<\/p>\n<p>Well, there are four default options for the display of the angle symbol auxiliary views.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Show rotation symbol with rotation angle<\/li>\n<li>Show rotation angle<\/li>\n<li>Show the text &#8220;ROTATION&#8221; followed by the rotation angle and direction<\/li>\n<li>Show just the angle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your company chooses to display just the rotation angle (as is common for GOST drawings), it is still sometimes necessary to display the rotation angle.\u00a0 Because the view label is a global setting within the drawing, there&#8217;s no way to accomodate this deviation from the standard settings without having some hugely complicated user interface to track individual labels here and there.\u00a0 So, instead, one additional annotation tag has been added.\u00a0 The advantage is that this new tag is available for any drawing view (not just auxiliary and section views).\u00a0 The new tag is &lt;VIEWANGLE&gt;.\u00a0 Type this into any annotation note.\u00a0 As long as that note\u00a0is a attached to a view, that view&#8217;s angle will be shown.\u00a0 As an example, this new tag can be added to the auxiliary view label after the &lt;VLANGLE&gt; tag (or anywhere else in the note).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4753\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/11-19-2013-9-37-32-PM.gif?resize=483%2C300\" alt=\"View rotation angle in any annotation note\" width=\"483\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The settings and the result of using the new tag:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/11-19-2013-9-43-33-PM.gif\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4754\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.fcsuper.com\/swblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/11-19-2013-9-43-33-PM.gif?resize=328%2C199\" alt=\"Adding the tag to add back the angle\" width=\"328\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With all the new functionality with view labels in SolidWorks 2014, some ancillary enhancements have also come about as a result from customer feedback during Beta Testing.\u00a0 One of these enhancements has been the new capability to display any view&#8217;s angle within an annotation note.\u00a0 Why would anyone need something like this?
