General Session audience<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With all the news and promotion of SolidWorks, Enovia and cloud computing, some other announcements might’ve gotten lost in the background.<\/p>\n

Attendance<\/h3>\n

SolidWorks World 2010 had a higher than expected attendance of over 5000 people.\u00a0 This despite a cut of the number of SolidWorks employees who attended.<\/p>\n

Certified users<\/h3>\n

There are now over 25,000 certified SolidWorks users.\u00a0 This includes both Certified SolidWorks Associates (CSWA) and Certified SolidWorks Professionals (CSWP).<\/p>\n

The new weldment exam was promoted.\u00a0 Additionally, a new level of achievement was announced, called Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE).\u00a0 This new certification level will require several other advanced certifications before being eligible to earn this recognition. Shop online<\/h3>\n

Another interesting announcement was that of a new online SolidWorks store<\/a>.\u00a0 There’s not a whole lot of stuff there right now.\u00a0 It’s still worth at least a look.<\/p>\n

Quotation<\/h3>\n

A comment about SolidWorks 2010 made by some guy named Matt Lorono was quoted by Jeff Ray during the General Session on Monday.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something different about SolidWorks 2010.\u00a0 It\u2019s hard to put my finger on it.\u00a0 It just seems to be a little \u2026oh I don\u2019t know\u2026 snappier or peppier.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Profiled companies<\/h3>\n

Because so much time was spent talking about cloud computing, there was less focus on customer success stories this year.\u00a0 Skyventure<\/a>, Cummfy Banana<\/a>, Infinite Z<\/a>, and Canon Mixed Reality<\/a> where all profiled.\u00a0 All of them are very interesting, if not outright entertaining.<\/p>\n

SWUGN Awards<\/h3>\n
