Information Age

This is our current times, which are now characterized by the ability of individuals to transfer information freely, and to have instant access to knowledge that would have previously have been difficult or impossible to find. It also represents a shift from Industrial Age (which ushered in industrialization at the start of the Industrial Revolution) to an economy based around the manipulation of information. The public use of the Internet is seen as a key marker for the start of this age. As such, it is said that it began in the early 1990s.
