A common request from users has been to provide a quicker method to change a document’s unit of measure. Previously, the only out-of-the-box method was through the Document Properties window, which involves a whole series of clicks and mouse movement. In SolidWorks 2012, units of measure can now be changed via a pop up menu in the status bar (bottom right of the SolidWorks window).
Of course, more refined control is still available in the Document Properties. This area is now easy to access as one of the options in the unit of measure pop up menu.
(If your status bar is hidden, you can display it going to View pulldown menu>Status Bar (near the bottom of the list)

Since 1998, I've been used SolidWorks non-stop. I've worked to utilize the SolidWorks' user environment to simplify drafting and design activities for 20+ engineers. I've created this website to provide current information about SolidWorks from a variety of contributors.
More recently, I am now employed by Dassault Systemes as SOLIDWORKS Sr. Product Definition Manager to improve drawing, annotation and MBD related areas.

That’s nice, but not a useful as another enhancment I’ve been waiting a long time for…
“You can edit the dimensions of a multiple-configuration component in the assembly or drawing environment, regardless of which configuration is active in the component document.”
That saves a lot of headaches when you work with multiple configs all the time.
Thanks for the sharing.. You can make the change directly enter the measurement nomenclature at the end.
